Community Guidelines

Exodus Trucking Community Guidelines

Effective Date: September 13, 2026

The Exodus Trucking Community is intended to be a practical place for drivers, owner-operators, small carriers, mechanics, equipment owners, and others connected to trucking to share experience, ask questions, work through problems, and help one another make better decisions.

Good trucking discussions are not always formal or polished. People will have different experiences, equipment, operating styles, opinions, and ways of doing things.

That is welcome.

What we do expect is that members use the Community in a way that keeps it useful, honest, safe, and worth coming back to.

These Guidelines apply to Driver’s Lounge discussions, comments, member posts, uploaded files or images, and other member-to-member areas of the Exodus Trucking Community.

Keep It Useful

The Community works best when members contribute information that has a purpose.

Ask real questions. Share what worked for you. Explain what did not work. Give enough context for other people to understand the situation.

Experience matters here, but so does being clear about the difference between:

  • something you personally experienced;
  • something you were told;
  • something you researched;
  • a regulation or official requirement;
  • and an opinion.

Nobody is expected to know everything.

It is completely acceptable to say, “This is what worked on my truck,” instead of presenting one experience as a universal rule.

Disagreement Is Allowed

Members do not have to agree with each other.

Different drivers can run different trucks, freight, routes, equipment, maintenance schedules, or business models and still both have legitimate experience.

Disagreement by itself is not a violation of these Guidelines.

Members may question advice, challenge an argument, correct inaccurate information, or explain why they would do something differently.

What is not acceptable is turning disagreement into personal attacks, threats, harassment, intimidation, or repeated efforts to provoke another member.

Discuss the issue rather than attacking the person.

Safety-Critical Advice

Some trucking conversations involve consequences much greater than simply being wrong on the internet.

Brakes, steering, tires, suspension, wheel ends, electrical systems, fuel systems, cargo securement, hazardous materials, hours of service, weight limits, trailer capacity, roadside repairs, and similar subjects can affect safety and legal compliance.

Members are welcome to share experience, but should not knowingly present dangerous information as safe or claim that an unofficial opinion overrides a regulation, manufacturer requirement, inspection requirement, or known safety condition.

When information is based on personal experience rather than professional inspection or official guidance, say so.

If another member’s situation could involve an unsafe vehicle, serious compliance issue, or condition that needs physical inspection, recommending that they stop and verify the condition with the appropriate qualified person is entirely appropriate.

Regulations and Compliance Discussions

Members may discuss FMCSA regulations, DOT inspections, permits, hours of service, licensing, authority, cargo securement, annual inspections, roadside enforcement, and other compliance matters.

Members should avoid presenting outdated, incomplete, or unverified regulatory information as a definite current requirement.

When possible, include the regulation, agency guidance, official source, or enough information for another member to verify it.

Statements such as “I have always done it this way” can be useful experience, but they are not the same thing as a current legal requirement.

Exodus may correct, annotate, or remove materially inaccurate compliance information when necessary to prevent confusion.

Mechanical and Repair Discussions

Members are encouraged to share repair experiences, diagnostic ideas, part information, maintenance practices, shop experiences, and equipment knowledge.

Because a vehicle cannot be completely diagnosed from a forum post or photograph, members should be careful about making absolute claims regarding safety or repair condition without adequate information.

Advice involving critical systems should not encourage someone to operate equipment that may be unsafe.

A suggestion to inspect, test, measure, consult manufacturer information, or have a qualified mechanic physically evaluate something is often the responsible answer.

Do Not Encourage Illegal or Unsafe Conduct

Do not use the Community to encourage, organize, or instruct others to deliberately violate safety laws, falsify records, defeat safety equipment, conceal defects from inspectors, manipulate logs, bypass required inspections, falsify permits or documents, or otherwise evade lawful trucking requirements.

Discussion of how a rule works, disagreement with a regulation, or describing something that happened on the road is different from actively helping someone evade the rule.

Exodus may remove content that crosses that line.

Respect Privacy

Do not post another person’s private information without permission.

This includes personal phone numbers, home addresses, private email addresses, driver’s-license information, Social Security numbers, financial information, medical records, payment information, private account credentials, or other sensitive personal information.

Use care when uploading documents, screenshots, rate confirmations, inspection reports, bills of lading, repair invoices, insurance documents, or photographs.

Before posting, remove information that does not need to be public or visible to other members.

Images may also contain embedded location information or other metadata.

Companies, Brokers, Shops and Other Businesses

Members may discuss real experiences with carriers, brokers, repair shops, dealers, manufacturers, insurance companies, vendors, shippers, receivers, and other businesses.

Firsthand experiences—good or bad—are useful.

Keep statements factual and distinguish between what you personally experienced and what you heard from someone else.

Do not knowingly post false allegations or fabricate claims about another person or business.

If a dispute is unresolved, say that rather than presenting your interpretation as a proven fact.

Exodus may moderate content when necessary to address credible legal, privacy, fraud, or safety concerns.

Selling, Advertising and Self-Promotion

The Community should not turn into a wall of advertising.

Members may naturally mention products, businesses, tools, software, carriers, services, or resources when they are genuinely relevant to a discussion.

Repeated promotion, unsolicited advertising, spam, recruiting unrelated to the discussion, mass messaging, or using the Community primarily to solicit customers is not permitted unless Exodus has specifically approved it.

Members who have a financial relationship with a product, company, referral program, or service they recommend should disclose that relationship.

Affiliate or referral links posted by members may be restricted or removed unless Exodus has specifically allowed them.

Exodus may create designated areas for buying, selling, business listings, recruiting, or promotions in the future. Additional rules may apply to those sections.

Buying and Selling Between Members

Unless Exodus specifically states otherwise, private transactions between members are arrangements between those members.

Exodus is not the buyer, seller, broker, payment processor, guarantor, inspector, or escrow service for private member transactions.

Members should perform their own due diligence before buying equipment, parts, services, loads, businesses, or other items from someone they meet through the Community.

Never send sensitive financial information through a public Community post.

Spam, Scams and Fraud

Do not use the Community for scams, phishing, deceptive offers, fake employment opportunities, fraudulent loads, impersonation, pyramid schemes, malicious links, or other dishonest activity.

Do not request passwords, payment-card information, Social Security numbers, banking credentials, or other sensitive information from members through Community discussions.

Suspected scams or fraudulent activity may be removed immediately and the associated account may be suspended while the matter is reviewed.

Harassment, Threats and Abusive Conduct

The Community should be a place where people can participate without being targeted.

Threats, stalking, repeated harassment, deliberate intimidation, sexual harassment, malicious impersonation, or repeated personal abuse are not permitted.

Strong opinions and blunt disagreement are not automatically harassment.

Context matters.

Exodus may intervene when behavior shifts from disagreement into repeated targeting, intimidation, or abuse.

Hate or Dehumanizing Content

Do not use the Community to attack or dehumanize people based on protected personal characteristics.

This does not prevent members from discussing laws, culture, religion, politics, public policy, employment issues, or other legitimate subjects when relevant to trucking or business.

The expectation is that members discuss the subject rather than target individuals or groups with abusive conduct.

Political and Off-Topic Discussions

The Exodus Trucking Community is primarily a trucking and business community.

Political or public-policy discussion may naturally arise when it directly affects trucking, fuel, taxes, regulation, labor, infrastructure, freight, transportation policy, or business operations.

General political arguments that have little connection to the purpose of the Community may be redirected or removed when they begin overwhelming useful trucking discussion.

The same principle applies to other unrelated topics.

Copyright and Other People’s Content

Do not upload or reproduce books, paid manuals, training courses, subscription-only material, copyrighted articles, photographs, software, or other content that you do not have the right to distribute.

Members may link to legitimate outside sources and may quote or summarize material where legally appropriate.

If you created the material yourself, you generally retain ownership of it subject to the permissions granted in the Membership Terms for operating the Community.

Member Posts Are Not Exodus Endorsements

A post being visible inside the Community does not mean Exodus has reviewed, verified, approved, or endorsed it.

Members remain responsible for their own posts and decisions.

Exodus may participate in discussions, add context, provide sources, correct information, or identify a post as particularly useful, but ordinary member content remains member-generated content.

Moderation

Exodus may moderate Community content in order to maintain the usefulness, safety, integrity, and operation of the Community.

Depending on the situation, moderation may include:

  • asking a member to clarify or correct a post;
  • adding context or an official source;
  • moving a discussion to a more appropriate section;
  • editing a title or formatting for clarity;
  • closing a discussion that has run its course;
  • removing duplicate, spam, unsafe, unlawful, or inappropriate content;
  • issuing a warning;
  • temporarily restricting posting privileges;
  • suspending an account;
  • or terminating Community access for serious or repeated violations.

Not every moderation decision requires the same response.

Ordinary misunderstandings may be handled informally. Fraud, threats, serious harassment, malicious activity, deliberate unauthorized sharing of paid resources, or significant safety or security concerns may require immediate action.

Correcting Information

Trucking information changes.

A regulation may be amended. A product may be discontinued. A procedure may turn out to be wrong. Someone may simply make a mistake.

Members are encouraged to correct information constructively and include a source when one is available.

Exodus may update, annotate, close, or remove older discussions when necessary to reduce the risk that clearly outdated or unsafe information continues circulating as current advice.

Reporting a Problem

If you believe a post involves spam, fraud, harassment, a serious privacy problem, dangerous misinformation, unauthorized sharing of paid Exodus content, or another significant violation of these Guidelines, use the available reporting feature or contact Exodus through the website.

Do not escalate a situation simply to create a public argument when it can reasonably be reported for review.

Changes to These Guidelines

The Community will evolve as new sections, features, and types of member interaction are added.

Exodus may update these Guidelines to reflect changes in Community features, moderation needs, technology, legal requirements, or recurring issues that arise within the Community.

The current version will be posted on this page with the applicable effective or revision date.

Material changes affecting membership rights will be handled consistently with the Exodus Trucking Community Membership Terms & Conditions.
